We can take you on a journey
Learn about your roots & family origins
Let Strathspey Tours help you walk in the footsteps of your Scottish ancestors with a bespoke Ancestry Tour to discover your Scottish Highland roots.
As a qualified genealogist and accredited member of the Association of Scottish Genealogists and Researchers in Archives (ASGRA), I’ve done research for Who Do You Think You Are? US TV series and appeared on ‘The Generation Frame’ for BBC Scotland. I’m familiar with many of the resources and repositories required for research and was also a genealogist at the Family History department of the Highland Archive in Inverness and part of the Ancestral Welcome! scheme with Visit Scotland.
If you’ve already done research or only just beginning you can’t beat local knowledge and expertise to enhance your ancestor’s story.
Ancestral tourism is a great way to discover Scotland and areas connected with your family. I can carry out research prior to your visit and create a bespoke tour to houses, farms, churches, castles and cemeteries connected with your family and clan. Even produce a family tree for you to take back.
Well worth a visit is the Highland Folk Museum near Newtonmore to experience the social conditions in the Highlands from the early 18th century around the time of Culloden to the mid 20th century. Grantown Museum also gives an insight into the history of the area.
The excellent Clan Macpherson museum tells the story of clan life, history and tradition pre and post the ’45 Jacobite Rising.
A bespoke guided tour around these sites will bring your ancestral heritage to life…enhancing your knowledge of their lives.
So, plan that trip of a lifetime which will let you walk in the footsteps of your Scottish Ancestors!
